The Ceeb as 'Honest Broker'

Via BCF, one learns that the CBC was willing to broadcast an interview with one of the machete guys, as long as he would allow someone from "the other side" to be interviewed at the same time for, ahem, "balance".

Yeah, because heaven knows, it wouldn't be "fair" to hear from a Tutsi if you couldn't hear from a Hutu, too.

Update: The Ceeb insisting on "balance"--now, what does that remind me of? Oh, yeah--Irving Abella's annecdote about how the Ceeb wanted to interview him on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his book (with Harold Troper) None Is Too Many, but only if it could also interview someone "from the other side." Abella was gobsmacked for a moment and said something like, "What, you mean the Nazis?" Needless to say, he declined to be interviewed.
