A Vastly Inflated Sense of a Vastly Ridiculous Purpose

From the Canadian Human Rights Commission's just-tabled 2009 Annual Report (my bolds):
Canada is the most open, inclusive and culturally diverse society in the world, yet people continue to face discrimination every day. Raising Canadians’ awareness of human rights issues and influencing positive and lasting societal change requires consistent and concerted efforts from a vast network—non-governmental organizations, advocacy groups, parliamentarians, labour unions, employers, legal bodies, academics, members of the media—in addition to human rights commissions.
A "vast network" beavering away to perfect us (and doing its level best to consistently and concertedly chip away at our most fundamental human right--the right to speak and think freely, without the threat of government interference--day by day by day). A "vast network" that considers the perfection of Canadians to be an endless work in progress--and an endless make work project for itself.

Update: Sing it, Doug!
