Failure to Launch

Expatica has an unintentially amusing story about how Dutch "children" are so much "quicker" to leave the parental nest than are "kids" in the rest of the EU:

Most Dutch people live on their own before they turn 35--unlike most of their counterparts elsewhere in Europe.

Only three percent of Dutch women aged between 25 and 34 still live with their parents. Of their male peers, 11,8 percent still do. The figures are well below the average in the 27 EU countries.

In all of the EU, close to 20 percent of women and close to 33 percent of men aged between 25 and 34 live with their parents, according to figures for 2008 published today by Eurostat, the European Statistics Office...

Sigh. They grow up so slow.
